Evel Knievel toys are a booming collectable. Here is some infomation to identify your toy and what it may be worth.
Collecting vintage Evel Knievel toys is not for kids anymore. The original Ideal Toy was first stocked on the shelves of toy stores in 1973 with thier first edition Evel Knievel, "King of the Stuntmen", Stunt Cycle. The Gyro Powered Motor bike was an instant hit for children 5 years old and up.
There are many variations of the Stunt Cycle between 1973 and 1977. You can tell which variation you have here.
The original Box measures 8 1/4" wide x 16 1/4" tall x 5 5/16". The first edition box is the highest collectable Knievel toy in what would becaome a long line of action toys. The rear of the box features an outlined image of Evel.

If you are lucky enough to find a Knievel toy with its original box than you are in "The Money". Find a factory sealed Stunt Cycle and you could be a little richer than you were a day ago, this is because there were rare editions of the toy that could be contained inside. However you will never know until you open the box. Some of the stunt cycles were manafactured with chrome parts like the engine block, handlebars, exhausts pipes and forks. Very few cycles were also made with motocross crossbar strapped across the handle bars. Another rare feature can be the color of the engine details which would be colored black below the chrome exhaust. In addition, the rear tire was made with wider spec than the post 1973 versions.

Things to look for when buying loose Evel Knievel Toys
Typically Evel Knievel toys were originally sold as a set which included some type of winding device, clothes, a motorcycle, car,rocket and various small parts. When buying loose, there are a few things you should look for since many parts were easily lost over the years.
- Trick stand was originally attached to the motorcycle seat. These kick stands were often broken off from normal use.
- Evel Knievel helmet
- Swagger stick
- Motorcycle (The Stunt Cycle)
- Box inserts which would include a set of decals, and operating instructions.
